Help! I'm trying to drain the oil on my Vog 260 clone (260 LG Super Scout) and it won't loosen. It's a 19mm plug and I tried a 12 point socket and breaker bar, but the edges just rounded off. They must have used an impact wrench at the factory set to about 600 lbs to put it on. Does anyone have any suggestion for a technique or special-purpose tool for removing this stubborn bolt?
If the corners are worn off to the point the socket wont grip well, you will need an adjustable socket (i.e. Gatorgrip) or adjustable wrench. But sound like you beyond this stage due to the siezed bolt. If I got to this point it maybe best to save your sanity, and just bite the bullet. Call around to some repair shops and find out how much to get it off. $20-$30 for 1/2 hour labor, to save a load of aggrivation to me is money well spent. After you get it off order yourself a new bolt.

Good point "Firstscoot" made. Lost of folks new to this do the same. It is easy, especially upside down. Hint: Hold the ratchet wrench right side up to set it to loosen. Then do the job. The drain plugs are put on with a fair amount of torque - almost like "Loctite" was used. They usually break loose with a crack. sound. Sears or an auto parts store might have individual sizes of the special sockets for removing rounded off bolts/nuts. You can order a replacement of buy one from a Yamaha dealer.
I had the same thing happen on one of my cars. Took it to Walmart oil change and after waiting 2 hours, they told me they couldn't get the plug out either. Went to a auto repair shop. He used some sort of socket that bit into the bolt and got it off.
Could you match the drain plug up with any plug the same size from a parts store?
I am doing an oil change this morning on the 250B...can't remember if these bolts are righty tighty and lefty loosey, or opposite. I know the chinese do things differently sometimes, and I can't remember from my first oil change which way I turned it. Now would be a good time to write it down.

marklorenzi: I just bought one of the Fleetwoods. They look like a clone of the Honda XRM's they sell overseas. It is in transit now and I should get it this week. I will try to post my experience here. Call me the guinea pig hahaha.
