Thanks.....had a chance today to do a 30 mile test. It works fine. No rattles at all....you wouldn't know it was back there. If we get a warm day, I'll paint the thing. You won't see it very well then. ;D

I'm not sure how well that aluminum bracket will hold up. If it fractures at the bends, it will be replaced with a steel bracket. You could also install a similar bracket on the front edge of the fender. The stock setup only is mounted on the one side. Is you see it now, the mounting is much more secure than stock.
It was somewhat difficult to make the compound curve to the fender. I had to flatten the groves at the front edge, then pound on it for a while to get the correct curve (visible in the photos). The sharp edges of the steel are covered with car door edge molding. It's surprisingly light, but very stiff right now. That's why I didn't use steel for the bracket.
Anyway.....I used pieces I had laying around here, so it didn't cost anything. ;D
Oh....also visible in the photos is the rubber flap I added to keep mud/dirt off the carb area. When I got this scoot it only had 100 miles on it, but the carb was covered with dried mud. That won't happen anymore.
