I bought my scooter 2 weeks ago . head lights didn't work (or dash/tail lights). checked everything including 3 R/R's. today i checked voltage off the stator. white had a lot (cant remember but 17+vac) yellow had 4vac. I ran the yellow off the battery and waalaa lights. (dash,. went to work (10 miles) and 7 miles (almost home) the bike died. I pulled into local walmart and it kick started fine. (battery was dead) I pulled the 10 amp fuse i put in place (wired to the battery)and started her up. No lights at all work. I guess it is my stator which is why I ran off the battery in the first place (and yall's help). cant be grounds because I didn't rewire the ground. The only thing I did was cut the yellow wire from the stator and run it through a fuse and str8 to the battery and the circuit worked great. Any ways I have around $85 and want a good stator with the magneto. I understand that the R/R is diff depending on the stator(6-8-11 pole) . If I am getting a HP stator can you show me the right R/R also. I could spend $100 if I had to. My budget should include 1-2 day shipping. I have looked but there r soooo many sites and the price varies so much I don't even know whats legit or not. Some sites seem too good to be true. Thanks in advance.

i'd go with one from one of the venders from this forum. Do you have a flywheel puller?

nope. but i can get one no problem. after looking 4 a while i see there isn't really a name brand stator. but i guess I'm going with an 8 pole. is the magneto proprietary?

It would help if you told us what brand/size scooter you have.
I'd go with an 11-pole if you ever plan to add more lights, louder horn, etc...

2006 sunl 150 (adventure 150) (300 miles) i read that the 11 pole was only 250 cc engines

It is highly likely you have a 6 pole stator.
That said, take off your flywheel and look at your stator, then you will know what kind of stator you need.

okay. I will pull it off tomorrow. I just don't know alot about it. If I go with a full wave dc stator does that mean i dont need a rectifier? If I do have a 6 pole and go to an 11 do I need a new maneto? Im sorry to bug yall I just wanna do it right.

This is what I mean, telling the guy its this and that and telling him to go buy a puller and what not. People it is NOT HIS STATOR, his stator readings are fine.

I am going to repost at scooter professor but in the mean time I did pull the stator b4 work. (didn't think I had time) . had to pay 30 for the damn puller from local dirtbike shop. Went to autozone pepboys and 2 others and no one even knew what it was lol ..... I am going to get a new stator weather its bad or not. I am gonna go with an 8 pole for the moment and then do the 11. I can only find an 8 locally and need wheels NOW!!! LOL . I tested everything. i think it's the stator but what do I know.... I just do'nt see how it could be anything else. i didnt have any lights or the R/R hooked up and i tested right off the stator. If the power starts there and is low then i dunno what else it could be. ..

If you don't have a Direct DC system to operate your lights(direct from the battery), Does anybody know what feeds the lights and how they are fed AND may I add how to correctly Test the Stator Outputs?

testing the stator output is easy, disconnect all the wires coming from the stator and use your multi-reader. First test the red and black wire with the positive probe from the multi reader and place the negative probe to the frame. Crank the engine over and a healthy reading should be 80+. For yellows or whites they both should be 8+ and nothing lower.
