150cc newport idles but dies w/ throttle

Hi guys, this seems like the place with all the answers. Inherited a 2008 newport 150. It's been sitting for over a year now. Once I get it running, it will idle just fine but if I give it any more than 1/8 turn on the throttle it bogs and dies. The tank only had a quarter tank so I filled it and added a liberal amount of sea foam. This didn't seem to solve my issue. If you guys have any insight or answers I'd greatly appreciate it.

If it's been sitting a year, you'd be better off pulling the carb and cleaning it all out. Also drain the tank and put *just* Seafoam in it, then run it for a while at idle. It'll generate white smoke. Fill it with all fresh gas, run it again until the white smoke stops. Adjust the idle mix screw out to the highest idle speed, then adjust the idle speed screw to your liking. Double check for exhaust leaks, too.

You are going to have to clean the carb and manually run wires through the main jet...

Seafoam is great a keeping the valves and combustion chamber clean and it will certainly help to keep the carb clean after you have cleaned it, but it is not a very effective carb cleaner in this situation...

Get STP injector and carb cleaner... it is basically aviation fuel and it cuts the varnish

So, use a carb cleaner to clean the carb... use Seafoam to maintain it and the engine too...

I am pretty sure small hole under throttle is clogged.
Motorcycle carbs usually have 3 holes there.

Take the bowl off and jets and spray Carb cleaner into the hole of the pilot jet and spray should come out by the tiny holes by the butterfly:
If they don't you can get a needle and poke the holes to unclog them.

Hi Guys, thanks for the quick responses. I took the carb apart and everything looked clean. I sprayed everything down anyway. Had carb cleaner coming out of every hole. The spark plug isn't fowling. Still seems to be having the same issue. Everything is clean and seems pretty new. The scooter's only got a little over a thousand miles. It's running like a warm engine, over choked. Anything past just a little bit of throttle and it bogs and seems to flood out. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Well that is great that it starts and idles.
First Try this adjust your carb: If there still is a problem then you will need to adjust the valves, Top Intake to .004" and Bottom Exhaust to .005".

ADJUSTING YOUR FUEL RATIO SCREW:

FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE, take your time DO NOT Be turning the SCREW fast and wait in between turns otherwise you will be off.

Warm Up the SCOOT for at least 5 minutes.

YOU WANT THE HIGHEST IDLE OUT OF THE FUEL RATIO SCREW YOU CAN GET.

ADJUST YOUR FUEL RATIO:

1. Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Counter Clockwise 1/4 and wait 10-15 seconds to allow the engine to catch up with the new setting.

** IF ON THE FIRST TURN IT DOES NOTHING OR IDLE GOES DOWN- GO to 2.*** Otherwise GO to a. below.

a. If the IDLE GOES up repeat 1.
b. If the IDLE does not go up or it does nothing turn the Fuel Ratio Screw 1/8 Clockwise that should be the highest IDLE you can get out of the Fuel Ratio Screw-- GO to FINISH UP.

2. Turn the Screw Back 1/4 and GO to 3..

3. Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Clockwise 1/4 and wait 10-15 seconds to allow the engine to catch up with the new setting.

** IF ON THE FIRST TURN IT DOES NOTHING YOUR PILOT JET AND OR PASSAGES ARE CLOGGED*** GO to CLEAN CARB*** Otherwise GO to a. below.

a. If the IDLE GOES up repeat 3.
b. If the IDLE does not go up or it does nothing turn the Fuel Ratio Screw 1/8 Counter Clockwise that should be the highest IDLE you can get out of the Fuel Ratio Screw-- GO to FINISH UP.

FINISH UP:
SET IDLE USING IDLE SPEED SCREW:
USING the IDLE SPEED SCREW set the Idle to 1500-1800 where it IDLES the smoothest AND the REAR WHEEL IS NOT Spinning-

TEST YOUR ADJUSTMENT:
Now while on the Center Stand GIVE THE THROTTLE a GOOD QUICK TWIST and Let go,
It should REV UP with with a nice VROOOOOOOOOM with no Bogging or Hesitation and Come back down to where you set your Idle.
DONE RIDE SAFE.

CLEAN CARB:
Take Carb Bowl off and clean Pilot Jet and Pilot Jet Passage and Main Jet and Passage.
Then come back and repeat this procedure.

Hi guys. The adjusting the fuel mix did the trick. Thanks for all your help. Now I just need to figure out the best place to find replacement plastic body panels. Any suggestions?
