__Lifan- 150t-6 scooter 2010__ Well I bought this scooter a few weeks ago I have about 350km done on it, everything seems to be running fine besides the fact that since I bought it there has been something wrong with the fuel tank. Problem: I ride around 60-80km/ on it before it runs out of gas, I check the gas tank and there is about 3/4 or half of the tank remaining... I only fill it up with about 3 liters (less then a gallon) of gas. Then everything runs fine again until I reach the next 60-80km , the scooter just shuts off until I fill it up again. The fuel gauge is around half way or close to the bottom. the manual says there is room for 8liters of gas so I can't figure out what the problem might be. PROBLEM FIXED THANKS TO THE HELP OF THE PEOPLE BELOW Attachments:

sounds like it could be a venting problem have you tried loosening the gas cap and riding around like that to see what happens

If the tank is below the carb you'll have a vacuum fuel pump. They generally look like a hockey puck with one vacuum line and two gas lines, one in, one out. These work on vacuum pulses from the engine. The cheapo soft rubber fuel lines and gas lines will colapse easily under strong vacuum. I'd suggest your replace all the vacuum and fuel lines with Goodyear gas and fuel lines. American made rubber vacuum and fuel lines are much better with thicker walls that won't colapse under high vacuum. Same goes if your tank is above your carb you'll have a vacuum petcock. The vacuum from the engine will open the valve and allow fuel to run into the carb. If the petcock is bad it won't pass enough fuel to run well especially at high throttle. Replace the lines same as above and this should cure your problems.

Hey new DAWG... I have the same bike from probably the same dealer.
I had the exact problem you have. It is the location of the petcock (Round grey thing with 3 hoses) under the seat beside the carb on the left side. You need to remove the seat tub to get at it...
It is mounted too high on the frame. Unbolt it and move it down on the frame about 6 inches and zip tie it beside the carburetor to the frame. That stops the problem
The manual is wrong about the tank. It holds about 4 litres. I wait until I'm in the red and then I can squeeze about $3.50 of 87 octane into it.
By the way there is no room for a larger tank, unless you want to give up the under-seat storage...
If you want to PM me I can give you a couple of other suggestions/recommendations...

Ok thank you guys, I will try and look at it tomorrow after work. I will first try moving the petcock thing down 6inches or so like sprocket suggested, if it wont solve it I will try and get new fuel lines since i dont want to wait 2 months to fix it.

The fuel lines on the 2010 Lifan are very good. you don't need to replace them. You should however replace those spring clips that holds the lines with 5" nylon zip ties. Pull them tight with pliers.
About 3 weeks after I bought mine the fuel hose at the petcock fell off and I had a huge puddle of gas...

I moved the petcock down about 4-6 inches from where it was, it's lower now then before so I will see if it worked. Hopefully it did something. since its raining I will try tomorrow

It does almost sound like a vacuum/pressure issue. Could be that the full tank exerts enough downward pressure to push it through until the reservoir (and thereby pressure) drops. Lowering the petcock may help.
On mine ('07 LF150T-5) and many other Lifans, there have reportedly been issues with venting. Previous owner of mine plumbed straight from tank-filter-carb, bypassing the petcock altogether. Seems to do just fine, although there is theoretically danger of leakdown at carb failure. It is also quite common to have to cut a small notch in the top of the fuel filler cap to let the tank suck a little air. If moving the petcock doesn't do the trick, I'd try what SDD said and see if going capless makes a difference. If so, then just notch the cap seal for a permanent fix and scoot happily ever after...

I have found that the vapor charcoal canister needs to be securely positioned so that the attached hoses (including the vent line to the fuel tank) are in a top, upright position. I cable wrapped the canister to the frame just in front of the air box on my 150cc. There are two unused ports on the bottom of the canister that need to be positioned downward. I think they serve the purpose to provide purge air ...
My guess is that if the charcoal gets saturated, then if the vent hoses are downward (or sideways), they block, and the tank won't vent.
I was having a similar issue as the original poster .. after I inspected the tank vent hose and traced it to the canister, I saw that the canister was "upside down". I changed the position and my problem was solved.

On my 06 T-5 it was the gas cap issue not venting. If I don't fill to the top all's well. When it is full I can only drive 5 or so miles and it dies, remove the cap, replace it, and go. I have a spray tube from a wd 40 can in the shut cap venting the tank. I'm going to do as a Roketa rider I ride with did to his was drill a small hole in the cap. Works for him.

I have a Lifan 125 and my fuel valve has four hose connections: vacuum, fuel in from tank, fuel out to carb and one with a bolt in it. Anybody have any advice on where that 4th line is supposed to go?

>>>fuel valve
Do you mean the petcock? Some of the earlier models has a second gas tank or reserve and that is where the fuel line connected. Just ignore it, unless it starts to leak fuel...

Thanks for the help with the fuel tank, i have got it working, the scooter goes over 100km now without running out. Also im wondering about the fuel gauge it's reading is a bit too low, it goes to empty a bit too early but i dont think theres a way to fix that without doing stuff electronically.

Mine was the same... you need to remove the fuel sender and adjust the tiny c-clip on the circuit board. It is tight and prevents the float wire from working smoothly...

Not certain you want to be messing with this...but here is how you do it...
Be careful these are easy to break...
The fuel sender is in the top of the gas tank and has a wire attached to it. There is a gold locking ring you need to turn to remove the sender. Take it out very carefully and be careful there is a stiff steel wire that has a float attached.
Once you get it out look at the green circuit board. The wire that has the float on it is held to the circuit board with a C-clip. You need to move that C-clip away from the circuit board ever so slightly so the float will go up and down freely.
After adjustment put the float sender back into the tank. Note it only goes on one way. There is a notch cut out in the sender unit and it must align with a tab on the gas tank. Put the gold ring back in and turn it so the tabs lock to the tank...

When you want to get rid of the pollution air injector that vibrates and 'clacks' under the seat, let me know...
