...howdy!
I have been doing some research on motorcycles and scooters since last year - I did my MSF in July and was quite taken with the Rebel, but I am much better with automatics and like the step through frame better anyway, so here I am!
I hope to be learning a lot in the next few weeks as I read through this board. While I've done a lot of surface research, and can build a computer with my eyes closed, I have little to no automotive mechanical experience - although I don't mind getting dirty and would love to learn. So if you see "simple" or stupid questions from me, please take it with a grain of salt and give me an answer with small simple words. ;D
My BIG question - Okay, I have held a Class C learner's permit for a while but I don't often get the chance to practice, and my motivation to buy a car is very low because I live 3 miles from work and 5 miles from school, and I'm quite fond of 2 wheels having ridden a bicycle everywhere for years. So I don't technically have a class C full blown license.
When I took the MSF, they said that passing it (which I did) would waive the road test requirement at the DMV, and so you'd only need the written test.
So I went to the DMV and they said it would not count because I did not have a class C license so I would still need to take a road test with the DMV. I asked them what the MSF was good for then, and he gave me the polite equivalent of "you wasted your time and money." Did I get taken for a ride??
I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to really follow up with it - this was a couple months ago, and again my MSF was in July, so I don't know if there's a time limit to this thing...hoping I can get everything squared away.
Well, this was longer than I meant it to be. I'm glad to meet you all!
