Roving With Rover, the Map!As promised in another thread on the board, here is a tentative map. Here's where he's been so far Here are Rover's Tales of Derring Do (Ignore the warning) For those of you who are just joining us, the idea was floated to have a sort of traveling baton that gets passed from member to member, eventually making it's way all over the place. If you're interested in participating, I would ask that you tag your location on the map, along with some other useful information such as scoot displacement and how far you see yourself riding--realistically. You also might want to include what times of the year you can do it so the baton/Stuffed Animal/Yet to Be Determined doesn't get stuck for months You can use things like the line tool and the shape tool to give a general area instead of a "distance." This way we can make it fun for everyone. You'll need a Google account to edit yourself into the map but those are absolutely free. Heck you can even record your route onto these things and add tags for pictures. If you have current responsibilities or weather issues--no problem. The Dawg is going to take quite some time to get around the place so it's not like this is a Pony Express run where we move it as fast as possible from place to place (Right we're trying to get it out of the Northeast before Ice and Snow make scooters a no-go). It probably won't get to the West Coast, for example, for quite some time. If your area is "taken" mark out your turf anyhow. That just means there's another rider close by that you could ride with.

Hi Spacecowboy,
I would be happy to participate as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground. I have a problem with the privacy policy that Google has, mostly the way they state it so I will not create an account with them. So for your information: I am in Eastern Connecticut My bike is a BV500 (460cc) I will ride 100 miles in no problem.
Let me know if you need me and Like I said if there ain't no snow or ice I am good to go.
Ride safe, Ride long.

Okay. If you folks have issues with their privacy policy I understand. I'll put you on the map, just give me a general location or a city or something. I didn't actually have a Google account myself until they bought out Blogger. As it is, it looks like we'll have plenty of riders on the East Coast. I've edited in people who weren't able to reach the map for some reason. Here is another link

I love this idea, the map is great too, bones to you for this effort. When the puppy gets to me, it is going to the giant redwoods for a picture too, it will get a little sight seeing done here.
Lets not forget that he needs a helmet to comply with some states laws.

Right. Check the map again. I colored in an area around Houston that is approx 100 miles in radius. As it stands now, we've almost got enough potential participants to start the Doggy moving.
No one in the West though (New Mexico, Arizona, West Texas). So if you know anyone else on the Forum who might be interested, drop them a PM.

No kidding. We've got most of the states in the Eastern USA Covered. Also. The "territories" on the map are not rules. They're more guidelines to help us figure out who to drive the Dawg to next. The idea is to get as many people to drive the Dawg as possible. If that means taking your entire Scooter gang on a ride, why not? oldf. We'll have to figure out who to start it with after a few more people sign up. Winter's coming as well as ice and snow, and I don't want anyone in the Northeast to needlessly endanger themselves for the sake of a stuffed animal. I figure that if it takes a week on average to move from person to person or club/club the best place to start would be the Northeast.

I managed to put a mark on Charlotte, NC, beyond that I could not get the shape or line tool to do anything, tried them, but only got the map to move around. My bad I guess. OK I am on a 250cc Helix, and can cover any area withnin a perimiter bounded by Raleigh/Duraham to the north, eastward to Wilmington and points up to Jacksonville (Camp LeJune) South down the coast to Charleston SC, West to Spartanburg/Greenville, and on to the Ashville area of NC and back east along the I-40 to the Charlotte area, dang would be so easy to draw it out, if I only knew what I was doing! I ride in any weather ( NO ICE), 24/7-365, and highly flexible in all areas of time directions and distance. Just find this a great way to meet and greet, and raise some good $ for what I am sure will be a good cause or two!! OH, just a thought, I would not mind acting as a 'hub' to do like octapus arms outward to others that might wish to participate, but don't have the time or whatever to come to meet, I reckon I am talking about being flexible in getting Rover to the max number of places and participants... don't want to create a logistical nightmare here, but just sharing a possibility. Let's get it on! And who is going to get the franchise to produce and sell the 'I walked THE Dawg across America and Back!" Teeeeeeee shurts? ;d Handlers and donor's might be prospects!

Walking the Dawg?
Anyhow rerun, you just filled in a big area in the Carolinas. We've almost got enough people to start.
I don't know about any sort of sponsorship deals relating specifically to this. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of sponsorship, but I do know that to get a sponsorship you've got to have a pretty slick operation going.
I do have some connections when it comes to T-shirt production, and emroidered patches aren't expensive. But Scootdawg -isn't- my intellectual property, I believe the trademark belongs to the owner of this Forum.

I am in Grapevine Texas, the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area. I have a gmail account but I haven't used it in ages as it is set to forward emails on my regular email account. So I am likely good for about a 100 miles or so around the DFW area. It depends. Roketa MC54-250B a 250cc Honda Reflex like scooter copy with a Linhai copy engine. Worst case, if all else fails a HD Sportster 1200.

hey space, sorry i didn't put scoot. it's roketa 150cc, mc-12. the buddy is my dawg actually smaller than the stuffed one we're looking at.
i can go the 100 miles toward New Orleans or towards pensacola (shescoots) area.
also i have the bro and his whole famdamily (4 scoots) up in mexico ny. i'll be up there in the spring. his girls would probably like to do something like this, but they are already getting snow, summer is better for them.
i think if we started in the south and made the way up north (by spring) we could get this going, i think it's too close to snow weather for the northerners. just my opinion.
you might want to let therustyaxe see this and maybe lee. and get the forums blessing. since we just had the contest for the logo. maybe we could tie this in to whatever the club committee is doing. just my opinion again.
and it would be great promotion for the forum. i think it's a great idea and fun too.

I put my area on there as well... I think we should also have the item transported photographed in every city with the rider transporting it and make a site dedicated to the pictorial! I have the server space and ability to do this, so all we would need is for everyone to email me pictures along the way so we can see the progress in real time...

I'm on the map. Everything's highways out here, so Frankenscoot won't get me too far, but I can ride any time it's not icy. If there's no way to connect to me (and I wouldn't be surprised), I can get the proverbial "picture next to a volcano" (so long as it's ok the volcano's been inactive for 100,000 years.)

You might want to use something like this for your "baton": You could then attach a Travel Bug to it, and people could track it wherever it goes!
