I'm running this thing for the first time all winter. Has new gas, new gas lines new Cdi new stator has good spark. I adjusted the valves cleaned the carb. Now when I try to start it it starts an runs for a few seconds then shuts off an won't start again. What's the deal?

Clean the carb again. Sounds like the idle passageways are clogged.

I took the carb completely apart an cleaned the heck out of it an it still doesn't work. I did however have the stator off cause I was gonna to the stroker crank but then decided to wait til next winter. So I put it all back on. An I was reading something about the pick up spacing could throw off timing? I kno nothing about this. I do kno that my fly wheel rotor is in correct alignment with the woodruff key on the crank Can anyone tell me if putting that pickup back in is more complicated than just bolting it back on?

has hard time starting cold once started runs fine
