Standard 87-89, 10W30 or 15W30, 80W90 Everyone has their own opinions, of course. I like STP fuel injector cleaner and Sta-bil in every tank.

yup regular gasoline will do just fine. and as for oil 10w-30 should be correct. check your manual once you get it. DO NOT USE synthetic for at least 1,000-2,000 miles. make sure you do the PDI Enjoy! I heard great things about the TaoTao

Change the oil before you ride as it may have cheap junk in it . Use a premium dino oil like Castrol and change both at 300 miles and clean the oil filter screen . Keep an eye on the oil lever as it may use a tad while the rings are seating . You can use synthetic in the gearbox and Scooter Elements is correct to wait until at least 2,000 miles before using a full synthetic in the engine as its slicker and they rings will not seat if used before the break in stage is complete . For gas I only use premium to avoid any spark knock and after all I only get a gallon so price is no biggy . Your TaoTao maybe a secret 63 with higher compression than the 49cc engine so use premium . I put 87 in my TaoTao and the piston cracked before I was at half tank and I almost had a meltdown as it was one day old . TaoTaos have been known to have the fuel filter on backwards from the factory at times and the filter is junk replace it with any 2.99 etc inline filter first thing . Replace the Torch ( if it has) brand sparkplug with a NGK iridium to that it will run at its best . You may have an unlimited cdi like I did but it would fizzle at high rpms so get an unlimited cdi with timing curve around 30 dollars . The headlight is weak so replace the tailight , running lights and turn signals with LEDs so the headlight can have more power . Turn signals will require a resistor . I put an 1157 LED tailight in my Jonway today and it works perfect without any mods to do so . Keep a real close eye on the tire psi as I had the rear tire come off of the rim 3 times and it was not flat or sagging . Its a pain to reseat the tire back onto the 10 inch wheel and you will need a ratcheting strap to hold it tight against the wheel while inflating or have a buddy hold a cable around while you inflate . It will not seat by itself even removing the valve stem and over inflating like car tire till it pops does work as well as without being strapped it does not seal . The seat can get real hot from the engine in the summer and I was going to use spray foam under the seat to insulate from heat but I sold it .
