I was cleaning up the scoot and finally noticed my data plate under some grime. It doesn't actually say the engine model #, it says "Engine Family: 7PCGC.050SA1"
It's a 2008 Peace Sports 50, and I know it's essentially a 139QMB, so why doesn't it just say that, instead of Engine Family?
Just curious if anyone knows why...

I have a 2009 Peace Sports 50. The engine family seems to be an internal manufacturing designation. The 139QMB designation is a generic one based on its original design, Honda's. Here is my engine plate. Greg

Coated variators, the ones I've seen are Teflon. Mixed results reported in the forum. I have a bad NCY Gold myself.
Belts do vary. From very poor $12 dollar OEM equipment all the way to very good with the Bando or Molinni. Gates Powerlink belts are better than most, but probably fall somewhere between the others. Much better than OEM but perhaps not as good as the other two.
It all really depends on what runs well with your set up.
Naraku makes a slightly oversized variator as well as a belt and gears. I personally wouldn't play with those, unless you were perhaps combining all of the above with a BBK.
Same goes with the $90 dollar Molinni kevlar belt. Unless I was installing the Molinni performance variator kit, I wouldn't go that way either, unless thats the only belt you can keep on you scoot.
Gates or Bando would get my vote, in most cases, with a heavy lean towards the Bando.
The main thing is to get the one on there off, while it's still in one piece and serviceable as an emergency back up, and replace it with one of better quality.
Scrappydog has great belt prices!

Secret 60? Funny you say that, I haven't done any mods, although I am the second owner. The other day I was on a two lane road and came up on two scoots (husband and wife, I think). I cruised right by them and then they caught up to me at a light. The husband pulled up next to me and asked what I had done to it and I said "nothing, except clean the carb". He asked how fast it went and I said I don't know the spedo only goes to 40 mph and I peg it at full speed. MainePeace, I'll see if I can get a photo of my data tag. It looks like yours except the "Engine Family" number and mine says minimum octane 92. Keetarider, did you post in the wrong discussion?

There isn't alot of information I can find online as to exactly what the numbers mean. I have found some documentation from the NHTSA about the emissions standards and the petition from Peace Sports to import the cycles. The Engine Family: 9PCGC.050SAA Permeation Family: 9PCGPMETALMC Best I can figure for the codes: 9 means 2009 PCG means Peace Sports Group C is unknown 050 means 49.5 cc SAA is unknown. I think I have seen AA as a designation for internal combustion engine, but I may be wrong. Permeation Family seems to be a designation for the engine itself. 9 means 2009 PCG means Peace Sports Group METAL means the engine block is cast metal MC means motorcycle Just a guess. Don't quote me on this. Lambda50 is ADAMANT that the 2008-2010 Peace Sports 50's are ALL secret 60's. I'd love to believe him, but in reality I don't know anybody on this board from Adam, so I err on the side of caution. He does seem to know his stuff and I'd like to trust him on this. My engine block is actually stamped with 1P39QMB. Is yours? Mine is basically stock except for a few airway restrictions removed on the stock airbox and a new jet #88. I reach 45 regularly, every day, as confirmed by my cyclocomputer and GPS. Greg

Greg,
I think your breakdown of the codes is logical. I'll have to see if I can find the stamp on my block. Also, I'll borrow a GPS and check my actual top speed.

Hahaha I AM adamant about those 44mm bores! I have seen them with my own eyes!!!! I tell yall what though. I am doing a valve lapping job on a Peace VIP tomorrow and dammit I am going to measure that bore and show yall that its a 44mm hahahah! I mean really think about it, why the hell else would they be faster than a non-p code engine?

First, I need to apologize, my Peace Sport is an 07, I could have sworn it was an 08. Greg, that would explain why my "Engine Family" # starts with a "7" and yours starts with a "9"... I wasn't able to find the stamp on the case... Where exactly is it located?
I did borrow a GPS, and my speedo is off more than I thought. When I'm pegged out beyond 40mph, I'm actually doing 36-37mph. The highest speed I saw was 38 briefly. It's flat here in Florida except the bridges. BTW, I'm 200lbs.
I experimented today by disconnecting the ERG and temporarily capped the lines with wire nuts. I went for a test ride and had similar speeds, but it ran a little rough at idle. Could be because of my temp capping of the lines, so I pulled over and hooked the vac and crankcase lines back up to the ERG. The Crankcase line had actually blown out the wire nut which was a pretty tight fit. I just had the squeeze clamp holding it, so maybe I should try again with a more suitable clamp, and better cap.
I think I'm going to order a UNI filter and #88 jet and see if I hit 40mph, at least now I have a baseline to compare against.
I'm still happy with the performance, it accelerates much better than the 08 Rashan 50 my girlfriend's son had, and it definitely has a higher top speed. Where I live most roads are 35mph limits or less, so I don't feel like I'm getting run down. But it would be nice to cruise at 40 when needed...

Are you completely pegged out at 40 or do you feel like you have more rpms to turn? I have found that SOME of these Peace scooters have wrong gearing in them that doesnt allow them to get over 40 mph.

The stamping on the engine casing is under the variator cover by the kickstand. You can see the spring from the kickstand and the edge of the variator cover in the pic above. Perhaps it's on a different location on your engine case.

Lambda, I don't have a Tach, but by sound I think there are plenty of RPM's left. I have no idea what weight rollers I have, but I'd like to pull them out and weigh them.
Thanks Greg, I should've figured that out by the picture. I've only taken the cover off once, just to check the belt condition. But, I would like to weigh my rollers/sliders whatever they are. I'm pretty sure my stoner neighbor has a scale I can borrow (not there's anything wrong with that).
I don't want to go way off topic here, but I'm comfortable working on engines, carbs, electrical systems. I've never dealt with belt driven, auto clutch. I'll do some research and figure out my current weights before I change anything, but if anyone has a good link to explain the theory behind how it works, I'd appreciate it.

Ooops, I re-read your post. I thought you meant UNDER the variator cover, I know see you meant below. I can't believe, I never noticed it before.
Anyway, it is a 1P39QMB. But it is an 07, so, if I ever tear it down it would be interesting to measure the piston...
