Hi Guys, I have a 50cc Benelli Pepe and I just cant get it to go more than 55kmh. Imposible! In fact I have bored the main jet to 100, changed to no limit CDI, slapped on a Delorto performance Air Filter and there is no change in the top end. Ive cut of a little piece of pipe inside the exaust pipe leading to the exhaust and that again gave it bottom end agressivness but still nothing over 55kmh. Please help me. Nex I will be looking at the variator and at intake from carbie into the engine but I am almost giving up and surrendering to some tossa who is going to rip me off after sooooo much hard work. Please help me. I believe that the engine is 50cc Minarelli. Regards, Zak. PS once it goes over 40 kmh it starts making excess noise and after 50kmh the acceleration is almost not existant yet engine keeps making this straining noise.....HELP PLEASE

I had a Benelli M50 Adretti, which is basically the same bike. Mine cane unrestricted and could do 42 MPH (NOT KMH)
The only place I would look is inside the variator. There is probably a washer that prevents the sides from closing all the way, which restricts top speed - rev as much as you want, it can't hit top gear. Remove or break out the washer and you should be set. I think you did too much without doing the obvious.

We don't have that scooter in the USA but it's a good looking one. I would check the variator. Here is a video of the scoot for people that don't have it in their local market.

What are you talking about?
WE CERTAINLY HAVE THAT SCOOT IN THE US IT IS THE BENELLI ANDRETTI M50
I speak from PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE since I owned one until earlier this year when I moved up to a SYM HD 200 My local dealer has them in stock.
Oh, I forgot, if I read it on the Internet it MUST be true.

I haven't seen a new Benelli since the early 1980s. I didn't know they still sold them here. Seems like a good scoot, big wheels, Minarelli type 2T. How did you derestrict yours so you can help this guy?

Yes i have a benelli, it is the quattronove 49x (or often called the x50). What you need to do is take the restrictor out the variator as the other guys mentioned. Its very straight forward, just google it and i think there is even a video on youtube how to do it. Pretty much u take the variator cover off, remove the variator and you must undo the bolt with a ratchet or air type gun, or you must lock the drive train in place so that you can loosen the bolt without the hole belt slipping, then once all thats off you will see the silver ring/washer, remove this, this is what will be holding you back! Look forward to hearing the difference!

Mine was not restricted in any way. But I think the US Benellis are made in China, the Euro Benellis made in Italy.
So there are probably some differences, such as the US version has a full fairing with a dash board, the one in the video has bare handlebars and a chrome speedo. But they are the same bike, the Pepe came first made in Italy. Don't know about the current Pepe
