I posted this in NASRA but not everyone here is a member...
I rode sasha (silver Galaxy 50cc) 46 miles this weekend, her maiden voyage and she g0es! I was hitting 46 subaru confirmed mph, which had the stock 50mph chinometer pegged. This is all on a stock engine, with variator tune. I was hitting 30-35 up hills! I can't wait to tune mine for real. The only thing that hurt sasha was when I was driving into a headwind, I had to use the toe of my shoe to block the intake snorkel, because she would lean out. ;D

I was hitting 46 subaru confirmed mph . . This is all on a stock engine, with variator tune. So . . since this model greatly exceeds the 30mph "moped" speed limitation statutes in many states, it would have to be registered as a motorcycle, and require a motorcycle driver license endorsement. Might as well just purchase a 150cc!

No one gives a crap if you do a little more than 30mph... Stop hatin. You can register and endorse if you want but most of us DON'T WANT TO, and ARN'T GOING TO.
p.s. you sound like a cop.

thats a modded galaxy remember, not factory stock. Per tstubbs . . "This is all on a stock engine, with variator tune."What specific modification information was not disclosed? It usually takes a lot more than a "variator tune" to get 46 mph out of a stock 139QMB 50cc 4-stroke. Peace engine failure.

I hear ya Kliff, I often feel the need to throw gas on the fire too ;-} mathclub, I,m a little skeptical about a 46mph outa the box 50 Maybe if it was a 44mm (approx 65cc) that slipped through Are your speeds GPS verified??

i can see him getting 46, before i installed my 85 kit (which threw my crank bearin, but thats another story), my tank urban econo 50 was bone stock. i mean the guy couldnt even put a throttle cable on it so....but ya, it went 45 all day, now it was a sloooowww 45, but at the end of the day, 45 is 45.

My Tank Urban Sporty, read about 53/54 mph stock(no restrictions) when I first got it--usually with no wind and maybe downhill a bit. I'm assuming, since my speed-o is off, that mine really was at least 40+ MPH during that time. I GPS mine and at 45 MPH on my speedo, it read about 35MPH gps. After about 4-5 months of that 53/54 downhill/tailwind speed, 45 was about the max my scoot would do(which is 35MPH really on mine), until I got a new engine recently. My new engine gets up there to, I should GPS it now just to see. Darn speedos.

Themathclub was in the chase car, which was my subaru which has stock size tires and a GPS verified correct speedo. No we did not have GPS on the scoot, but the chinometer was pegged at 50. and the soob said 45-46. It might have a 44mm piston, I am still not sure of the stroke. Our bikes are restricted at the variator. Most people overlook the variator when they start to tune. Next time, I will get a video of these shenanigans to prove it. Man that was a blast! ;D Edit: the needle is still at stock height and it has yet to have a valve adjustment

What is the variator restriction?

Gotcha. Once you get your weights where you want them try a slightly shortenned variator pin. Throw one in that shipment coming my way, I'll shorten it for you, .5mm, or send 2 and I'll do a -.5mm AND a -.25mm, then see what happens to top end. I'll even ship 'em back on my dime.

SWEET! We can send you a pin and a whole variator if you would like. What is funny is that our stock variators on the bikes come with 8.6g weights, but our replacement variators come with 6.5g weights ;D
