I just recently lost my keys to my scooter and was wandering if there was any way to start it by clipping a wire or something because i know on xr50 you can remove a wire off the ignition to bypass the key. can someone help?

One guy on here recently got a scoot - but no keys.
A locksmith made him a new set for $40.

Personally, I've never hotwired a scoot before. But, having seen the wiring and the ignition mechanism I think I could figure it out pretty easily. However, I don't have any real desire to learn how to hotwire a scooter.
I actually almost had a vehicle stolen from me a number of years ago. The would-be thieves were less than 2 seconds away from successfully stealing it. Luckily someone came along at that moment and they took off running.
Knowing how easy it is to steal scooters means I'll be locking it to a stationary object whenever it's parked.

You can take a dent puller and punch out the ignition switch, Drawback= anyone can start it with a screwdriver. What kind of scoot is it? I probably have a switch with key that will work on it. Wont charge you much.

There are four wires I think on the back of the switch its really easy just look at a wiring diagram! and you can figure it out

just go to a locksmith and get some keys before you start cutting the hell out of your electrical system

No, you're not looking to cut wires to bypass, you're looking to combine wires to bypass.
Think of it this way, you have wires coming in on one side, and wires going out on another side. They don't touch. But, when you turn the key, you complete the loop (touch the wires) and the scoot now has power.
But, like mortar says - just take it to a locksmith before you damage something. *smile* They can cut you a new key for around $20.

of all the vehicles i have owned and screwed the ignition due to loosing keys my scoot is not one of them.. it is so much easier (and cheaper)in the long run to have a locksmith make you one.. or if you get a real soft peice of metal that fits you could do it yourself. put metal in turn it with a little force to mark the pin set and file the spots out the metal to match.. still easier and better just to get a smith..
to bad you didn't just snap the key off in the ignition like what happened to mine, though on the other hand, cops do give me funny looks when i pull out my pocket knife to turn my key, and i have been hassled a few times till they see most of the key is still in the ignition

If you unplug the ignition harness, you can kick start it because it shuts it off by grounding the black and white wire. The problem is you won't have some of your lights because they rely on the key to switch on the power to run them. Also, you will have to choke off the air supply to stall it when you want to shut it down. Better to just buy a new lock cylinder or get a key fabbed by a locksmith.
