 Chinese scooter won't turn over
« Thread Started on Oct 4, 2009, 9:55pm »

Maybe someone can help? My son and I bought a used Chinese scooter (2 stroke). It wouldn't start at all when we got it, we thought it might be a fun mother son project to get it running, we are both new to this. We replaced the CDI and it started! But it wouldn't stay running. We put the project on hold for a few months and then decided to give it another try. We started it and as long as I was giving it gas it would stay running, though belching out white exhaust (and loud). We adjusted the two screws on the carb and were able to get it to idle without dying (still quite a bit of exhaust). My husband took it for a belching (loud and smokey) ride around the block a few times, at first the back wheel didn't even push the bike but as he pushed it/rode it it started to get a little stronger and he was able to go quite a bit faster. He said that he felt that it didn't have nearly the power that it should (70 cc). We told him to pull over so we could try adjusting the carb and he unfortunately turned the scooter off. We haven't been able to start it since. I cleaned the carb and it still won't start. When we try to start it, it sounds like rrrr rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr, if I'm giving it gas it's rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr with a glok glok glok sound (do you like my sound effects? :)). Does anyone know what might be the problem? Thank you in advance for any info

I wish my mom was so cool!

I seem to remember that blue smoke is oil and white is water.

Did you change the gasoline after sitting for a few months?

Let me just start by welcoming you to the forums :)

I believe I know exactly what you're talking about towards the end of the post. After changing the main jet on my carb, I too got that "glok glok glok" when you give it any gas. Which would lead me to believe that your carb is running too large, or too small of a main jet.
