Lance Venice 150 cc - Q&A by owners for owners
« Thread Started on Jun 14, 2008, 2:50pm »

I just received my new super fun Lance Venice 150cc from nationalscootersonline. The scooter is great, running perfectly, no problems.

But, I have a silly question and realize that someone else with a Venice may be able to help me out! How do I access the under seat storage?? I cannot seem to find the release lock! Help much appreciated :P

If you are sitting on the scooter, there is a key hole on the left side of the scooter--on the body panel.

After you turn the key, the seat should pop up a little and you can open it from the back side--it will swing open from the back to the front.

Same as my wife's GSR. Key hole on the side panel. It will pop up the release on the seat. Hint: sometimes they stick a little.

On the Venice, you simply turn the key to the far left, while its in the ignition to pop open the seat.

There's no keyhole on the leftside in a body panel.

Its also listed in the manual, if these instructions aren't clear.

Hope that helps.

Actually, you can turn the key to the far right (just past the engine running position) or the far left (just prior to the steering column locked position); either will open the seat.

hi new member here and also new owner of a venice. i am enjoying it very much, but i am not getting very good gas mileage yet. has anyone else experienced poor gas mileage during break in? also, at how many miles did your venice break in and start getting good mileage? i only have just over 200 miles on it so maybe i'm just worrying too much.

also, the gy6 mods on here look interesting. does the venice have that engine as well?

ch0mp,

Welcome to the dawg pound!

Yes, your scooter, as 95%+ of all the 150cc bikes out there uses the GY6 engine (a Honda design of the 1960s).

Your mileage should increase steadily as the parts wear-in in your engine. I am not sure what to expect eventually, but I think 70 mpg or so is a fair guesstimate.

There are threads devoted to nothing but modifications, so you can learn a ton of stuff in those. Be aware that a 150cc can only be bumped up so much, displacement I think tops out in the 170cc area. That costs a good deal for a small gain. Free flow air filters are not expensive, and re-jetting or replacing the carb is not a bad expense either, a high performance exhaust can be a bunch, but the most dramatic performance increase will be seen with those three items (intake, carb, and exhaust).

Other things such as changing out the roller weights can help with better acceleration and such, but will not help top end speed.

Read up, and enjoy the scooter!

put the key in the ignition don't press down, just turn it to the right (past the "on" part of the ignition) it will feel like you are turning the key further than it is supposed to go but you'll hear a click from the trunk area.

Thanks y'all!! Sorry for the slow reply -- I was out of town and didn't have a chance to hop on my venice. Happy to report that I have now figured out how to pop open the seat with the ignition :) Thanks for the help!
