Center Stand for Tao Tao 150 powermax
« Thread Started on Jul 24, 2012, 5:10pm »

My centerstand has broke again and I was wondering if I am not alone now that this is the 2nd centerstand to break within 6 months. Should I get stainless steel? What am I doing wrong? The original I can understand being shipped on a boat overseas but the second looked new and should never have broke. Neither one broke in the same spot. Does anyone have suggestions?

Weld the stand back together and continue using it. There is a chance the stands are made from poor metal or were cast poorly and this would affect all of them. Either way I'd just have it welded together again and not place undue pressure on it Such as sitting on the bike with the stand out. It's designed to support the weight of the bike at rest, not with a person on it.

If you want a suggestion on a stronger stand to replace it with someone may have an answer for you. All the bike stands I've ever had were solid bars of metal not tubes or some other sort of weak substitute. Not sure if yours is a tube or what.

Yeah. It is a hollow tube. Welding might be a bit much. I think I am going to get stainless steel so it won't happen again. I never sit on scoot while parked. Only when I ride do I sit on seat. I think these center stands are crappy made and a stainless will do the trick.
