CVT or clutch problem, opinions please
« Thread Started on Jun 3, 2012, 9:41am »

My 150 Jonway started just fine after sitting for 4 days under a tarp in the rain. For the first mile its normal then when I went to stop the clutch or CVT would not disengage and it stalled like a stick shift would if you didn't push the clutch in. It will restart and it wants to creep forward. When you hit the gas it engages hard. The belt has 3,400 miles on it. I am thinking I need a good clean up under the cover and possible pulley lube. Any opinions please, before I tear into it?

Sounds like your clutch and possible the cvt need to be cleaned out. If you've never taken it apart then be prepared it might be time for new rollers and cvt guides as well.

Clutch arms are not retracting properly . . or perhaps excessive humidity "swelled" the pad material enough to cause a drag issue. Advance to 4:20 in this video.

Right on the money. I pulled the bell and the spring fell out along with a piece of the thing that retains it. Thanks all.

I replaced the clutch since I had to ride 25 miles on it and it wore down the pad.
