So this is my second moped that i've gotten my first being a 50cc that was stolen and this one being a brand new 150cc Jonway MC_D150F that I purchased from www.scooterdepot.us and I suggest you never buy a scooter from these scam artists since day 1 ive had problems first it was sent to me running way to lean and backfiring had to replace the carb with a non slugged one then the petcock went out on me and was causing my scoot to die all the time and then the PAIR system was robbing my vacuum at full throttle and causing me to lose top speed and then my roller weights got flat spots in them and ended up fixing all that with new carb, petcock, air filter, NGK spark plug, fuel lines & filter, 13g slider weights. but then I stripped out the crankshaft when I was fine tuning the weights now that one was my fault but everything else was from the factory and i was finally able to get a new one and I have my engine all torn apart except for the flywheel I need that stupid flywheel puller and turns out my piston is scored already which is ridiculous this scooter only has 720 miles on it and the warranty doesn't cover anything also still haven't received my title sorry for the long post need to vent out my frustrations I hate this scooter only had it about 3 weeks and im pretty much rebuilding the entire engine already

Ah, the joys of a Chinese scooter.... don't let it frustrate you, those things are pretty typical and not that big of a deal. Well except the scored piston... did it run ok till now? Did you do the PDI oil change? How did you break it in? Did you strip the threads on the end of the crank? It would help if they used better quality fasteners..

yea it ran fine except for the random power loss i would get while riding happened maybe 2 or 3 times i changed the oil at 30 miles 60 miles 120 miles 250 miles and at 550 miles i put in synthetic it did run dry before i put synthetic i have no idea where all that oil went i guess it all blew through the vent on the head but that much? thats most likely why my piston is scored as for the break in i did a soft break in 25 mph for the first 25 miles with lots of rpm variation and 35 mph till 100 miles and from 100-500 45 mph and then i rode it like i ride a scooter for the next 220 miles and yes i stripped the threads on the crank but i got a new one to replace it but i cant even get my engine case cracked because i dont have the spanner nut socket 20 more dollars i dont have just to tear it down /cry

dont look at is asw a bad thing, its and chance to make the engine better, a new crank can be had on ebay for 30 dollars delivered. before you take it apart, get a 62mm jug kit, fit it. then take the engine apart and clean all the metal pieces from fitting the cylinder when you drop the new crank in. inspect everything and bolt you new bore bore engine together and terrorize the neighbor hood.
total cost about $140.

140 dollars? I dont think so 63mm big bore kit = $130 by itself plus a 4 valve head kit $200 new exhuast $100+ and a 30mm carb kit $125 and a bigger displacement crank $150 so to go that route would be about 700 with tax or keep the stock crank carb and exhaust get a 59mm bigbore kit for $100 and a performance 2 valve head for another $100 or i could buy a stock top end rebuild for $50 and keep it all stock or i have a friend willing to let me have his 125cc head and piston for free by the way all parts are from www.scrappydogscooters.com i love them all quality parts and its local so i dont have to wait for shipping took 2 weeks just get my scooter delivered

you dont need a 4 valve head, or an exhaust upgrade, a 30mm carb, the 2 valve head will feed a 63mm kit fine, and that stuff can be added slowly piece by piece as time goes on. But i guess you know more than me and have this all figured out.
but your right get the free parts and be done with the scooter.
but scooter elements has a 62mm for 100 and one for 80, he has a ton of kits, his ncy are priced right, crank is 30 on ebay, and a gasket kit is about 15 dollars.

I know i dont "need" the 4 valve head but if i was just gonna go for all the hp i can get without worrying about money i would totally get it i hear just the head kit alone gives you a pretty good boost of power wish i could afford everything i wanted but that would be upwards of $1000 but thats not gonna happen unless i hit one of these slot jackpots one of these days

One thing I do have to ask about this scored piston problem. Did you change out the engine oil and gearbox oil first thing?
They ship these scooters with basically the cheapest oil they can, not much better than vegetable oil. Many people experience severe engine damage because they put a lot of miles on the factory fill which usually is also underfilled with oil.

I changed the engine oil first thing not the gear oil though i changed that at 300 miles but somewhere inbetween 300 and 500 miles all my oil got dumped some how i really got no idea but id say thats how my piston got scored id say i have to pick up an oil vent catch for 30 bucks sometime soon dont want that problem happening again

Were you riding easy in your first 300 miles? Because an easy break in is the only way to go.
Hard running, wotting and RPMs over 5500 in the first 300 miles = improperly set rings= scoring = massive blow-by of oil= all oil mysteriously gone.
I've done two ring jobs on 157s that were broke in by idiots. Both were at about 1500 miles, both had improperly seated rings. Both threw oil out the vent at the rate of 1 oz per ten miles.
When you rebuild, baby that scoot! Just finished my easy break in on my 2011 Baccio, and she only throws about 1/2 an ounce per oil change ( religiously done every 300 miles after break in, FTW!) into her catch can.

www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htmi followed this to a T and very happy with how my scoot runs it's a little long winded and first impression is that he is selling something, but he is not and it's very imfomative so read it through.

It's a shame these scooters don't come with a sticker on them thats says, spend an additional $100 and 12hrs of preride labor (for instructions see http://Scootdawg.proboards.com) and you will have a great machine!

I had that random power loss issue too and turned out to be a bad CDI module. Very common and frequently overlooked. If it were me, and my drive-line was in such a brittle condition, I would shoot for a turn-key crate motor, which comes with fresh everything. They come as either OEM replacement, or built up to 232cc and potential for 80+mph. partsforscooters.com, and scootertronics.com are 2 sources right off the top of my head.

of course you drop that 2000 dollar engine into your 1000 scooter and your at the same price as a 2011 blur 220i with less than 500 miles on it. that only needs a gear change or slightly taller tires to more it for the 72-75mph range into the 80s,
or you could just do what i do and what the auctions for a blur 220i with a wiped out front end or side and swap the motor in.
