Bought a $230 OEM TGB Carburetor to replace the "Standard of Japan" crap chinese one that the local scoot store sold me a couple years back. Installed new Carb and new Spark plug and scooter instantly sounded 1000x more powerful just idling, and ran perfect on center stand. Next day took it out for test ride, and sure as anything it started spitting and sputtering again when rolling on throttle. I was livid. So then I tried adjusting the fuel/air ratio to fix it and nothing. Finally I re-set the valves. Still didn't work.
At whits end I decided to make a video for you guys to hear what it was doing so you could tell me what might of been problem. It was dark, had seat off and kept getting on throttle pretty hard so you could hear it sputtering and then I noticed a blue spark popping off where the wire connectors attach to spark plug wire. Clamped them down nice and tight and now pure TGB 151cc perfection. With the new carb finally running over 60mph again, and the low end speed is really responsive. Super frustrating weekend, but man o man does it feel nice when it all clicks and everything runs great.

And think, if it wasn't dark you wouldn't have seen the blue spark and you might have ended up buying something else or fixing something else not knowing what the real problem was. Sometimes my best fixes have been accidental.

Amen Brother. Sometimes you just fall into it, and once you figure it out it dawns on you as a perfectly logical explanation that you wish you thought of sooner. Live and learn.
