Have you pulled the CVT cover to check the belt? Often, the make and size are stamped on the belt. Many, if not most, Chinese scoots are now coming with better quality belts. If yours is a name brand, leave it alone, buy a spare and keep an eye on it. Stan Jessup's website is a good source for parts and information. www.oregonvintage.com/

You need to pull off your CVT case cover and see what it says on the belt. There are two basic belt sizes, one for the short CVT cases and one for the long CVT cases.

Count the screws holding the cover, the short case uses 8, and a 743 20 30 belt. If you have more than 8 cover screws it is a long case engine.

The long cage CVT drive units use a 835-20-30 belt. kevlar belts tend to last longer than the regular belts. I think most of the scooter companies quit putting on some really cheap OEM no name belts. But it is hard to tell for sure.

Call me stupid and foolish, but I have ordered one of those weird Kevlar belts with the leather strip bonded in, that you see on E-bay. It was only $44, Stan was out of stock on his Kevlar 835 belts, so I thought what the heck, I'll be the guinea pig and report back to you guys how it performs and how long it lasts. At 30% cheaper than the normal Kevlar belt, it's a money-saver if it works!

I have a 2007 Roketa Sicily 150. What brand of belt does the factory use on this scooter? I'm in the process of changing it myself. I'm considering going with a GATES belt, according to the pics that i've seen of them, it appears that they can be found in a auto parts store. Please help!!!!!

Any dealer that sells/repairs chinese scooters should stock it. I seriously doubt that a normal auto parts store would carry any CVT belt, Gates or otherwise. Your profile doesn't say where you live, but if it's a small town, you're better off ordering off the internet. Start at oregonvintage.com, Stan has 3 makes of CVT belts.

My Roketa Fiji 150 came with a Gates belt on it. I pulled the cover and looked. I went for the Kings kevlar belt like OregonVintage.com sells. The Gates belt works OK but it wore down faster than I expected and it stretched out about 1/2 a inch longer too. That caused my scooter to run 1,000 rpm or so faster than when new. Putting on the Kings belt dropped the RPM back down 1,000 RPm less. The width wear on the Gates belt was like 3 hundreths of an inch as compared to a new Gates belt. The new Kings kevlar belt looks to be about 1 hundreth of an inch wider than a new Gates belt. So the Kings belt will ride slightly higher on the pulleys giving a little bet better top end.

The Gates auto catalog doesn't even list the CVT belts. It would be great if they did.

Well I don't know if the Gates here in the USA is the same Gates they have in China or not. or they are faking the name to make it look good to us customers. or they licensed the name to use in China or something.
