Hey Folks, first post here. Hoping small engine gurus can help me out. I got a brand new one of these a month ago (well, it had 80 miles on it):

It's a 2009, so it had been sitting at the dealer's for about 18 months. I got $300 off because it was winter (in Minnesota) and because it hadn't had the PDI done. Well, the snow finally is melting, and I got to take it out for the first ride today. I'm having a problem though. Bike starts and runs great. However, after I get a few miles away from my house, it just dies at about 45 mph. Maybe 5-10 minutes after I've been riding. If I let it sit for a few minutes, it will start again, and then die a minute or two later while riding. If I ride a few hundred yards, pull over and idle, ride a few hundred yards, pull over and idle, etc. I can make it all the way home (thanks goodness). Sounds like a vacuum leak maybe? Here's what I've done so far:
Inspected vacuum lines - don't see any obvious problems
Inspected fuel filter - there isn't one! Doh, I'll need to take care of that quickly
Removed and cleaned carb - looked nice and clean already, but I sprayed it all with cleaner and compressed air. Nothing obviously wrong with carb (to me anyway).
Also, cranked the engine with the fuel line to the carb put in a jar. Plenty of fuel dispneses (enough I think anyway?) WOT while cranking doesn't produce any fuel doing this, but is that a valid test?
Any ideas what I should try next? If it helps, I believe this is a setup with a fuel pump instead of a petcock.
Thanks so much for your time!
Mathias
