We just changed the contra spring to a 2000rpm and are running 12gr roller weights we seem to have lost power on our ozark hill instead of gaining it. What should we try? Which way do we go with roller weights.? We also did not change the clutch springs. Do they have to match the contra spring? It seems like we lost 2 miles per hour on the hills and gained it in top speed. Another question I have to ask and that is do you grease new roller weights? The new ones are flattening out already and they have been in for only 200 miles. Hope you all can help us. ;D Chris

Do not grease them. I think the grease would fly out do the centrifigal force then get on the belt, then your belt would slip.
They get flat spots- They're cheap
I think 2000 and 12 sounds light - But Springs and weights are like black magic - What works for one guy fails for another.
I actually set up a spread sheet and try to keep track of my performance with different weights.
Also - try changing one thing at a time. Change the spring back to 1500 or 1000 and see what happens. Then try 12g weights.
you can also try sliders, etc . You really have to experiment.
AS far as the clutch springs, they just tell your clutch when to engage, they don't have to match the contra.
I have a 1500 conta and 12g weights - perfect for me.
small windshield had the biggest impact on hill climbing for me

Doug and I have very similar set ups, 59mm top ends, FS carbs, and I have a 1500rpm torque spring as well. I have the red 2000rpm springs in my clutch and right now, 12g rollers as well. I think I will end up with 14g rollers though. I do the same thing as Doug. I have a chart with roller combos and spring combos and roller/spring combos. It helps keep track, and like Doug said, try one thing at a time. This includes carb jetting as well. Oops, forgot, I have a chart for that too. Maybe I need to write an "app for that" and sell it. LOL
