i recently had to replace my carb. after doing so my engine kept flooding out and gas was pouring out of the air intake. i replaced the original intake with an air breather from the local auto parts store. went from 18 mph to 30. but now when i get to top speed every so often it makes a hick up. just slightly and it dosent affect my speed its just a slight hick up in the motor. im not sure whats going on. any suggestions?

I'd take for a scoot, when it hick ups I'd check the spark plug to see if your running too rich or too lean (may have to adjust a/f mix screw)

Lean motors will make a plug White or blistered looking.

If you have this carb, you can see where the a/f mix screw is. Attachments:

At top speed the air-fuel screw won't do you any good, it only controls the fuel mix at idle and low throttle. You need to check the plug and change out the main jet in the carb

well the jets are all brand new.. still change it? and i just got the stock carb. its the cvk 50cc japan carb. its new, but stock. what to do? its almost as if it starts pulling strong then losses power and does this continuously until the motor is warmed up then it spaces out more but is surely still there. like a quck jerk and then it lets off before it can even gain speed

It could be electrical , find your ground connections be sure they are tight.

alright cool. anyone have a diagram of the vac line system handy? and once the engine has warmed up it runs great. but if i go downhill and gain speed it will gain but it tugs as its going. you can feel it just tug.. tug...... tug.tug.. tug.......tug just randomly. id almost say its a governor but it will push through downhill and still hit about 40mph or so. and it dont feel like a miss really... just a tug i dunno wtf it could be.

its a50cc. well 49.5 or whatever it is. and its just hit 900. its running good other than that. it stops if i slightly let off the throttle.

Also possible the cdi is at its limit and is firing funny?
I had( don't know now at the moment cause bike is down and haven't been able to check if my tugging is still there.) similar issues with my stock 150cc. Was very noticeable on hot days at 65-70 chinometers when running on I-64. The tugging was like what you would feel when you slip into the draft stream of a semi. At times I would have complete power loss(I feel that was due to many different issues.) and not just vacuum lock

Mine happens at top speed, almost as if its flooding out once im at top speed with throttle wide open. but if i let off slightly it continues at 30-35 just fine. which im fine with because i havent put upgrades on her but still that tug kills me. i feel like it could do 40 just fine if this problem was taken care of
