Has anyone removed/replaced that HUGE rear splash guard on the back of their scoots? I am going to replace it with a much smaller one once I lower the rear. It seems that the black plastic is all part of the reflectors of the back lights. I would assume you just use a dremel and cut off wheel? I also don't drive on crowded roads. No one is out by me and it is nice clean pavement So I will not be throwing stones at anyone.

If you take it off you may get water or other stuff sprayed on your back . I think a much shorter fender that went outwards instead of following the curve of the tire will be better . If you have a trunk it will block spray from the tire . I find the long fenders to look dorky . One of my scooters the rear fender is a two piece . I backed into something and jammed it up . I could not get it to pop back in place so I took it off in order to put in back on again but lined up . I liked how it looked being shorter and still can put on the extension if desired . If you cut yours off there may not being any going back to how it was . You will need a tag bracket unless you can reuse the existing one . Since my tags did not line up square on the bracket I might opt to get one that is sized to mount a MC tag in the middle instead of offset . www.cyclegear.com has a few universal tag brackets . My 49cc the tag bracket is too small and I have a zip tie on one side and cat eye on the other . I guess I should zip tie the other side so they match . I hate how it looks ghetto with a zip tie . I have been noid that my tag might get stolen as several cars in my area have had theirs stolen . I tighten the cat eye or reflector dot with wing nut with pliers so it can not be removed by hand . I would wet a small area of the street and see how the tire sprays to know the angle it goes . You could also get a tray like one used for painting with a 9 inch roller , put some water in in it , have the scooter on the CS with rear tire in water and slowly spin the tire at first and speed it up to see the direction of the spray . There is a few threads here if you search for them as you should research it first before messing up which can easily be done . Post a pic and details when your done

If you take it off you may get water or other stuff sprayed on your back . I think a much shorter fender that went outwards instead of following the curve of the tire will be better . If you have a trunk it will block spray from the tire . you realize this is pretty false right? i have heard it a million times and i laugh each time. almost no scooter or motorcycle has a wheel that sticks far enough back to shoot water on your back, gy6 ruckus and long case in a short case scooter, the "extended" style are about the only thing in the world that can do this. The water that clings and is kicked up by the the tire is thrown and with anything thrown from a spinning object with centrifugal force it must travel in a straight line, it would have to curve around the body in an arc path and be traveling faster than the scooter to catch up with you. it defies the laws of physics, the rear fender is for the cars behind you in the rain to eliminate the "rooster tail." its a DOT thing, and the under tail of your scooter seems to get a bit more dirty. object released from a rotating body will have a velocity perpendicular to the radius of rotation. here is a good discussion on the topic but there are about a million others gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=24119.0;nowap

Untrue I had water spray on my back with the section of the fender removed . It may not apply to all but surely some

unless your scooter looks like this with the rear fender removed or this is close to maybe getting wet otherwise it breaks the laws of physics to get water on your back long before scooters hit the scene and started cutting their fenders off motorcycles had been doing it. gonna trust their 5 million reviews vs the odd physics defying report of wet back on a scooter when i know guys riding these dont get water splashed on their backs.

I've never rode with a wetback and I cut mine within the first week I bought it.

Does anyone have pics of theirs cut off? Did you cut it completely off or just shave it down?

Heres a pic of mine before I swapped to all LED lights, I had trouble finding a spot to mount the license plate so I bended some metal and attached them to the support band on my fuel tank.

Those getting a wet back from a bobbed fender scooter may be getting wet from the turbulence of the air pulling water droplets from the back tire rooster tail or the rain or road spray from other vehicles being pulled around to their back.

Well I went for it today and chopped it off. Looks much better I think. I still have to paint the brackets. I figure I will do that once my new mirrors and other parts come in

Just a Sharpie will blacken the brackets quickly and easily.

damn it another person running around on my kenda k761 130 60 13 tires, those are supposed to be mine.
then dont jeff, we get the fear of commitment, if you can not mark it with a black sharpie and use your mind to see what it will look like cut then its not for you.
