My 83cc BBK destroyed the bearings. Started her up one morning to go to work and I heard it making funny noises. Got her to work and was barely idling. Went to start her up to go home and that was a no go. Pushed her home, drained the oil and voila, metal shavings galore.
I've since ordered a 72cc BBK for my spare 49cc engine.

About how many miles were on the bbk? and how many miles altogether on the bike?

About how many miles were on the bbk? and how many miles altogether on the bike? I've really lost track of the mileage since I have had so many speedo cables break. Probably 8000 miles on the bike and like 2500 miles on the BBK.

Yup sounds about right. Mine went at 10,000 miles. Honestly it was 9,000 but I kept pushing it til it sounded like rocks in a cement grinder. I only upgraded to a 72cc kit, so don't expect much better mileage out of it.
How long was the push home?

Well I have to join this club too, Ladybug died after 4000 miles... Mine too was a 72 cc upgrade kit. The 4000 miles were very hard miles, drove 70 to 80 miles every day for two weeks at wot as I was on a Hwy and had to drive flat out, so I'm sure that accelerated failure..

I got my new parts. I'm having a little trouble getting motivated to do the swap.

I know what you mean. I have 10 engines I need to work on but can't get motivated to work on ONE.

I would imagine that the weather in Detriot is about the same as here in east central Indiana, maybe even a bit colder, so if you don't have a heated garage in which to work, I totally understand the problem with motivation to work on your scoot!
CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING!

Yes. Indiana weather sucks right now. I have a garage heated by a wood stove, It just seems so far away today lol. Raining and 37 degrees.
