I SELL PEACE SPORT 49CC BIKES
WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IS WHEN THE BIKES GET A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON THEM THEY ARE LOSING SPEED
MOST BIKES ARE DROPPING FROM 40 TO 30 MPH AND I CAN FIND OUT WHY THEY ARE DOING THIS.....I HAVE CLEANED CARBS,CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND CDI BOXES CHANGED COILS AND THEY STILL ONLY DO 30MPH.WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO MAKE THESE THINGS LOSE SO MUCH SPEED LIKE THIS?
IM JUST STUMPED WITH WHATS GOING ON

If they are 4 stroke, probably the Valves tightened up. That will make them loose a lot of power. Lefty

The belts are not new and are not as wide as they once were, therefore it cannot go into as high of a gear as it once did. Try a new belt on one next time and see if that doesn't fix it.

one thing to check is the PAIR system. it is a crappy system & tends to wear out quickly and then allow to much air to the intake manifold. the vacuum drops.
I would clamp the PAIR hoses at the intake and valve cover & see if there is any effect.
look for vacuum leaks.... that always kills performance.

I would say to check compression.
Are they really losing speed or is it just the speedo that claims so? I've noticed the speedos change over time as different parts wear. For my personal one it shows a faster speed (could be the speedo puck I replaced). For my rentals, they show slightly slower speed.

Hey guys I am studying to be a machinist and when I had my variator off I was looking at the Alum. and noticed definate wear ridges in mine. not large maybe like .020 or so but how much dif. could that make? Enough to warant replacing it? and if so can you get oversized versions?

danno manno are you talking about the variator were the roller weights go? if there is three different wear marks were the plate covers the rollers then you need new variator glide keys. Sorry if this isnt what you were talking about i cant tell what you were trying to type.

I can probably tell you what is happening. The latest Peace imports have mostly been coming in with 60cc kits on them. The compression has jumped from 150 lbs to 210 lbs. These scooters must have 100% 93 octane in them, or within 200 miles the piston and rings will self destruct.
This means using a dedicated 93 octane pump or nozzle. You can not use a pump that dispenses several grades with only one nozzle. With this type of pump you will get over a quart of what the last person pumped, usually 87 octane.
Check compression and I will bet it's down to 125 or less. Also pull off the breather tube from the valve cover and see if smoke comes out.

sorry I was talking about the face the belt wears on, and possible issues with the loss of material making the gap wider and not allowing the belt to climb as high.

With the current Peace Sports I noticed they changed the routing of the vacuum tubes... now the crankcase vent routes to the CVT cover vent... stupid stupid stupid! The CVT gets full of oil and crap from the valve cover. I remove that vacuum line and the T, route the valve cover vent directly to the intake pre-filter, and it solves a myriad of small issues, including power loss.

8cm? Does that involve removing the valve and holding it in front of the valve cover? Do you mean .08mm?
A general place to start is .004" intake and .005" exhaust. Minor variances for different engines. You don't want' totally silent or clackety clackety... just ticky ticky.
2008 Peace Sports Renegade 50 scooters do not come restricted if I remember correctly. They are a true 50 as the "secret 60's" didn't start appearing until 2009.

I need help on a different subject, maybe I won't get expelled outta here...lol.....How can I make a aftermarket air filter work. It's a samll 4 inch cone and when I install it the engine bogs down. I closed of the vacume line to the carb but no luck, it still bogs down. I dont travel on dirt roads so I wanted to get rid of the air box....(on my Renegade 50cc)

An aftermarket cone filter on an otherwise stock setup WILL make you lean, which is why your scooter bogs down. You MUST get a larger main jet or close off the intake in order to keep your engine from frying itself. Jet sizes in stock carbs vary, so you will have to pull out your carb and try to read a number on the jet, if it's labeled. Typical stock main jet sizes for 50cc scooters are #76, #78, #80, but they can be all over the place. If it's not labelled, you can get a "jet kit" for about $30 which has a range of jet sizes, generally from #76-#95 or so. Good investment, especially for tuning. If you don't want to do that and you have small drill bits, you can try sliding one in to find the closest fit and convert to .01mm. IF you have a drill press or the like you can try to drill out the main jet a bit, but it's trial and error and not recommended unless you know exactly what you are doing.
