 oil catch can.do or dont?
« Thread Started on Jan 3, 2011, 4:24pm »

so i installed a oil catch can today.i made one out of a couple fittings.3/8 fuel line, and a life savor metal tin.unfortunatly i had to paint it due to mounting issues and lack of welding equipment.the question is.are they ok to run?can you run them long distances?cold weather?i ride at least 40-40 miles a day.everyday and am wondering if its worth doing?and what are the pros/cons of running one?thanx any info would be helpful.

Shouldn't it be attached to the valve cover?

Just looking at it...it should work ok. I would be concerned that water could hit the filter and drain back down into the crankcase.

I installed a catch-can from Scrappydog.....been working fine so far.

yes the valve cover has a hose with a "new"pvc valve.its tucked up in the engine compartment.im gonna attach it to the catch can.just havrnt done it yet.and as far as water goes i do not ride it in the rain.i did last year but that was before the uni.so rule of thumb now is watch the weather.so ya think it will work huh?yes a little jerry rigged.but its a working progress.lol.how much oil does your scoot lose with a catch can?

I just got mine installed right before it turned too cold to ride much. Any oil that gets blown into the catch-can should just drain back into the crankcase. That's the theory...Here's my setup
