 49CC/72CC UPGRADE (HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING)
« Thread Started on Sept 24, 2009, 10:35am »

Hello Everyone,

I just joined today with hopes of getting some advise as to how to fix my scooter. I recently purchased a 72cc big bore kit. After finishing the installation which included roller weights and a main jet I can't seem to get the scooter to idle without shutting down, and when I accelerate it starts to hesitate as the rpm goes up. If anyone has had a similar problem, I would greatly appreciate your feedback. I have not replaced the shell until I get this squared away. The reason I got the kit was to be able to increase top speed, but at the moment it only goes up to 20mph before it starts to hesitate. The scooter is a Chinese brand. Thank you for your feedback.

The feeler gauge seemed a little tight. I will readjust it.

the kit you talk about, is it the one from jeremy over at enviromoto or ebay or somewhere else. knowing where is came from and therefore what exactly came with it might help a little. have you played with the air/fuel screw on the side of the carb. how about the air filter, is it the stock box or freeflow. you also mention that you adjusted the valves, but that it seemed a little tight. I know that when i adjusted mine i adjusted the center tap to be finger tight then i locked it in with the nut. cleaning the carb by putting some seafoam in the tank and maybe even opening up the carb to check for a clog. there is also a possibility of having a torn diaphram or cracked intake manifold. lots to look at to check it out, but what i wrote is at least a start.

kalekendek

The kit I purchased came from Enviromoto. It is the Stage 4 kit which includes the following:

Included:
Piston (47mm)
Rings
C-Clips
Cylinder
Gaskets
Wrist Pin
8G Rollers
UNI Free Flow Air Filter (Made in the USA)
NGK Spark Plug
#88 Main Jet.

I played a bit with the valve clearance and was able to get the scooter to idle however when I gave it throttle it still hesitates as the rpm's go up. I checked the intake and did not see any cracks in it. Is the air/fuel screw on the side of the carb the same as the one used to idle, or is this another one. Thanks again for your feedback.

Clean the carb carefully. And then tune it. Do you have the timing set right?

How many miles do you have on the new kit? Mine did that for the first 50 or so.

Do a good hard breaking on the engine.

Also the side screw on the carb is the mixture screw the idle screw is the one on top by the throttle cable.

He dosent have a accelerator pump on his carburetor. We see this a lot on the Znen made scooters. You know fly, lance, roketa. I think they do this to keep the scooter for going over 35 mph.

Roketa has sold some znens but I cant confirm if they have them. I know I have run into this problem with Lance and Fly scooters and since znen is a factory not a importer at this point who knows who is having this particular build imported.

Something to keep a eye out for.

Well thanks again to everyone for all the tips and info. I will post an update when I replace the carb. I can't wait to have this puppy go faster. I tried it out around the neighborhood and can feel a bit more torque starting up. As long as I don't throttle all the way it seems good. :)

Wow. That sucks. It's almost like they screwed you.

Good thing a replacement carb is cheap. Let us know what kind you go with and what results you have. :)
