if there was a dependable, 19hp 250cc scooter that ran 85mph and cost less than $2000... every dealer in the nation would be selling them.

Evosales has this scoot listed too:

I think this is the one that Andi had all the issues with, don't know if he ever got his running or not, but if so, he'd know if it really does 85 or not (but I doubt it).

Hmm...That body looks oddly like my old Vento Phantom R4i 150CC, in other words, the same short base frame that almost every 150CC clone uses. I can tell you that I wouldn't even want to hit 70MPH on that thing. It would be very unstable at high speeds. 55MPH on my Phantom was plenty fast for me on that bodystyle scooter!

Hello Pretyboi75: I have a Linhai 300, I haven't gone 85mph nor do I plan to, I went a little over 65mph ( based on my speedometer) and at that speed control is limited. If you want a good 250 scooter look at the Linhai 260, there are some 2006's left they have a 257cc engine and look sharp. The roadrunner "tested driven before they ship" Ultimately you will decide for yourself, but you should read the post in the dealer section prior to making a decision. Be an educated consumer.

Well they took a 150cc frame and shoehorned in a 250cc engine with radiator. So it may be able to do 85mph, but I sure as heck am not riding a 150cc scooter at 85 mph. Way too squirrely for me. Doing 55 on my 150cc feels really squirrely too me already. But if it existed at the time I had bought my 150 Fiji, I would have sure as heck gone for it then. http://www.tomaliscooters.com/pd_racing_scooter.cfm

Thank you for all your incite. I dont think id wanna go 85 either on a scoot. I dont think Indian Jones would take that chance either. 60 is plenty for me.

I know, i got it. 85 mph indicated. yeah that's it, a 20% error margin. The scooter is going about 60-65 but the speedo indicates 85. yeah. that is how they did it.

Everyday I get up to '85' on my 250 Bali on the freeway. Actually it's more like 70+ in real speed, according to the flow of traffic.
Although, on Friday after work I got a 20 - 30 mph tailwind (not uncommon around here in the Columbia Basin area) I got up to that speed with unusual quickness and still throttle to spare. I had to push it WOT out of curiousity and it went past the 90 on the dial. Not sure what that translated to real mph, but man, what a blast!

I can't help notice how the number 85 looks so much like the letters BS. Is that just me? Maybe I should put my glasses on.

Still breaking in my Bali 250 but I did hit 62 GPS pretty easily and the gauge said I was doing 76. How do these things pass inspections when most of the gauges seem innacurate?

Anchovysundae, I know a good upholstery repairman if you need that seatcover repaired! I am sure it must have gotten stained at that speed on a scooter!

The Hyosung MS3 250 with DOHC and FI has 25 HP and is supposed to do 90 but I haven't had it above 70 and don't plan on it.

Helotesguy,
Heh! Nah, it just hoses off easy. Is that why the seat is washable vinyl?

I have the RR Race 250. I have had it up to 80 once in Crosswinds, not tailwinds... It was heating up pretty quick though so I slowed it down. It felt like it could do more but it was really windy and I didn't want to go that fast for too long. I was checking the speeds with my TOMTOM. I didn't even look at the scoot's spedo. (Of course, now I am having overheating problems.) Just started to troubleshoot though.
