I too am interested in getting this scooter. I am a 140lbs girl that would be using it ALOT on the freeway.... my main concern is that it will jar me around a little more than I would like... any thoughts? My guess is that the B would be better due to the longer wheel base... but how do you know that you are really vetting a B???

Frygirly,
Welcome to the Dawg Pound!

Take some time to do some reading in this section. You will find lots of helpful information. No, the "B" indicates it has an engine based on the design of one produced by Linhai, a Chinese Co. that is partnered w/Yamaha. The engine is actually a design from an earlier Yamaha engine. Without the "b" designation, the scoot comes with an engine based of one made by CFMoto, a Chinese Co. that builds engines based on a Honda design from the '80s.

Buying from an unknown Co. or one of those known to be less than truthful is a shot in the dark. They may say you will get one thing and you get another. This forum has good information about such dealers as well as others known to be decent. Some folks buy purely based on price and take a gamble. Many are burned.

You may be on to something! Colone's cloning clones. Soon they will be everywhere. Then the quality will drop, some will be shipped without wheels, then without engines. Then they will be made in Haiti. The next thing you know you order a scooter only to receive a beat up set of luggage. Where does it stop man!

I have a Ronoco and I love it when it was running. It's down now because of a bad part (Electronic choke).
I received one today and it was broke , and so was my hart.
They, (Alitescooters) said they didn't have any more , so they were going to send me a new carb.
As for riding with the traffic, it doesn't do bad. A little rocky with the semis, but if you run 55 you can handle it ok.
I've had mine up to 75, but I was only going around 65-68 mph.

I put a fast 1700 miles on it when I got it . Work and back home. 60 mi. round trip. Hit enough bumps to jar the + & - conections on the batt. result: Killed the Electronic choke.
I don't know if it was before or after I found this but the engine dies when I came to a stop. Any suggest.

Stalling at stop lights is almost always valve gap out of adjustment. Could be 300 different causes...but valve gap is 99% of the time.

Does anyone know if they have a service manual for the MC-250-B. If so, where I can get one? I know that the parts are hard enough to get , let alone a book.....

this go out to Flygirly!!! i would suggest not taking your scooter on the freeway, would be very dangerous, big trucks bowin by you and buses would blow you all over the place. i've had my new scooter for 2 weeks now and i've had many of real motorcycle's and its just not worth thte risk of taking a scooter on any highway or freeway. stay safe and keep it off the highways, jerks in trucks don't care about you when the are rolling down the highway at 75 mph. scuba j

Whoa Frygirly,
You said you were only 140 Lbs and wanted to ride on freeways. I suggest you take the back roads and take your time.
I'm 250 on a 250, and I get blown around . I ride on I-74 for about 5-6 miles and I stay on the right side of the right lane.

As I said bfore, the lose conections on my battery, due to hitting lots of pot holes, killed my electonic choke. I think I will use Loctite on those screws also.
Good idea or not?

My bike is a Ronoco 250-B and it si the Yamaha/Linhai 257cc and other than some small issues it runs like a scalded ape. Scooterran how has your dealings with Alite been? I bought my scoot from them also and am still waiting on 2 repalcement warraty parts that has cosmetic damage on them from delivery in Sept. I am starting to get a little ugly with them and on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate them at 7 and I know a lot of folks have done worse or better with their dealer. It is a very pretty scoot get compliments all the time. JR

Jr. I got a call from the Holland trucking co. in Danville, Ill. telling me that a package had arrived at their terminal. They wanted to know how to get to my address so they could make the delivery. I told them to keep it there until tomorrow and I would pick it up . They were very good at putting the crate on my trailer.
I opened the box to find everything was in very good shape and excepted the shippment.
took it home and put it together. AS I looked it over , I found that it was a Ronoco MC-54-250-B. It also had a tag on it somewhere that said, "CYPRESS". I don't know what that is all about. I peeled it off and threw it away.
As for the dealings for parts,,, You gave them a lot better rating than I am ( 1 of 10 ) about a 3-4. I don't know who you are dealing with but try this--Chase, Parts Manager, Technical Support Dept. support@alitescooters.com... I hope this will help you.
As for my problem, it happened about 10/10/08 and they finaly sent the part, but it was broken. You don't think they sent it that way....na surely not ..................

Jr. I sent them the broken part and they recieved it in 3 days. I called to make sure they had the broken part. Thats how I know how long it took to get there.
Did you look to see where your scoot came from? Mine came from there warehouse in Cal. A suberb of L. A. I looked it up on Google Earth.
Now , a friend of mine has a Bali-250 scoot and the wind blew his over at work. He ordered his parts from Georgiascooters.com . He recieved his parts in just a few days. He had to get them painted, but it looks great. I don't know if they handle Ronoco parts.

I have learned that the MC-54-250-B is called by several names and I think dealers have their own name like the Ronoco and I have seen the cypress 250 also. I have dealt with Chase also and he is doing pretty good so far and a girl named Rebecca which I don't care for at all. If they will get me my parts from the shipping damage then I would be happy and am starting to get impatient and have told Chase just that and he says he has it on his priority list so we will see. I've also dealt with their tech/mechanic Jason and he is a delightful young man but it is obvious that he is still learning and has a lot to learn yet. My rating was based on all the bad things you read that other people go through with their dealers like not even answering the phone or emails which Alite has not done so far but again I am running short on patience about my replacement parts and am sure glad it hasn't affected it's running or I would be really P_ _ _ _ _ off. Hey a little tip on their website they have the warranty and the things it covers and their extended lifetime warranty which I bought. Go to the extended warranty section at the bottom and read what the lifetime warranty covers including belts and spark plugs! Can you believe this? Well this is where I got into it with Rebecca and after calling her attention to it she admitted it was an error and they would honor this statement and I have this in writing. They said they was going to get this changed but they haven't so if you bought the lifetime warranty I would call thier attention to this like I did. Free belts and spark plugs can't beat that! The only kicker is you have to send them the bad part and then they will send you a replacement so what I plan on doing is buying a sparkplug and belt and when I need one send in the old one and get my replacement and put it on the shelf when needed that way my scoot won't be down while I wait. No Ihave not looked up mine but I do remember them once saying it came from california. Do you have the name and contact out there scooterran? I would like to call them personally over my replacement parts. That way I can see if I'm getting the run around from Alite. There shop is in Edmond Ok. and from where I live it's only about 5 1/2 hours to drive, have considered driving out there to see just what kind of shop Alite has. They also just droped DHL delivery for Fed-Ex which will be an improvement to. If you have a contact for the warehouse please let me know. JR

Look at the "Chinese 250 scooter engines" sticky, there is a link for a free pdf for the Yamaha Majesty maintenance manual. (Same engine as the "linhai clone".)

Scotterrn, recheck you kill switch to make sure it did not get switched off accidentally. If ok then check to see if carb is getting gas, remove gas line and try to start the scooter, if gas pumps through the line it's getting gas (will make a mess if gas is pumping so be prepared) . Check for spark from plug, remove the spark plug place back into the boot, hold boot with spark plug installed in it close to the metal frame (about 1/8 inch between the end of the plug and the frame, be sure to clean up the gas first or do this step before the gas thing) and check for a spark from the end of the plug to the metal while turning over the engine (dim lights and you can see the spark better and hold the boot with an insulated tool or you might get a slight shock). If you get a spark more than likely the plug is good. If no spark change the plug and retry.
