Honda PCX150 Versus Vespa GTS 300
« Thread Started on Jun 19, 2012, 9:08pm »

Considering these two, which do you think is better?

1. more nimble?
2. seat comfort and width?
3. reliability?
4. weight distribution and stability?

I plan to use only briefly on highways, and no more than 65mph. What do you think? I ride a GY6 150cc now that I would keep.

By the way this PCX150 seems to get up to 70mph top speed and is pretty quick. Does it compare in performance to a 250cc Chinese scooter or is it slower?

You definitely want something bigger than the PCX. Also, if you are gonna do any sort of interstate travel you NEED something 250 or larger. I brought my PCX125 back home after I used it in a metro area for 5 months and I plan on upgrading to a 300+ scoot in the next month or so.
1. Both scooters are nimble, although I believe the GTS has a little more lean than the PCX.
2.The seat on the PCX is fine for about 10 minutes but you will start hurting eventually(especially if you are taller). The GTS has a great seat and more leg room
3. I drove my PCX in the heart of a Colorado winter and it never failed me once....still doesn't. It is definitely a well made machine and I'm sure the 150cc will be even better. The GTS will most likely last more miles having a bigger displacement engine.
4. The PCX has slightly larger wheels but the GTS is a heavier bike with most of the weight being in the back. Either way you go your gonna feel the wind on the interstate.

If you already have a 150cc get the Vespa...now you WILL be spending almost double for the Vespa than the PCX....but it's a better investment.

As far as the chinese scoot.....don't know....don't want to know :P

Thanks for the good advice, what I want is the PCX frame and size and weight, but with a larger 250cc+ engine that can top at 80 and cruise at 70 with some to spare. I thought was leaning towards the Vespa but it is a bit bigger taller and much heavier than the PCX, and its price tag is holding me back (almost twice the PCX), and not sure I want that much weight also. Maybe the PCX would be it, except it tops at 65MPH I think... Still better than my znen 150cc. I guess like anything else there is no such thing as a perfect scooter unless you are the one building it lol

Have you looked into the Genuine Blur SS 220?

When I was in Denver, CO I spoke with a guy at a scooter shop that had a Genuine Blur and said nothing but good things about it. That was actually his only vehicle and used it everyday. The only thing that would hold me back is the air-cooled engine but that would be a good option in your case.

I liked the Blur when I saw it but you need to be pretty tall.

Depending on what style you want, I would suggest looking at a Downtown or People 300 from Kymco.

Either will do over 80, and cruise easily at 70, and I am getting over 70 mpg on mine. They are both a little heavier than a PCX but pretty nimble and the dealer can probably go $1000 under sticker. Mine did.

Otherwise there are a bunch of leftover Sym Citycoms around the country I have seen listed new for about $4k.

despite the bigger engine the blur 220i has a low top speed. but its nimble and comfy, sporty.
