How important is it to have the air filter blow by hose I just noticed i lost mine and im working on finding a piece of hose to replace it if its "needed" and wandering if it needs to be closed off to collect oil? I was thinking it was really just to keep oil from being thrown all over and with the hose and closed end it collects so theres no mess? basically how important is? it thanks alot!

It is a drain hose. You will need to replace it because things get really messy if you simply let it drip to the open air.

I know its fat i been looking at some hoses to replace it got to be 1/2 or bigger! But would it be ok to run the hose longer so anything that drains will hit ground instead of all over scoot or is plug really needed?

Hi fairweasel,
The hose you need is simply a short piece of clear PVC (also called Tygon or vinyl) hose. It can be purchased at most "big box" building supply stores, most hardware stores, and some auto supply stores. One foot should not cost any more than a dollar; heck they might even have a remnant they they would give you for free.
The risk of leaving this port open is that it might enable dusty, dirty air to be sucked into the engine because the "oil-catch box" that the hose is connected to is also vented to the air intake hose after the air filter.
Scoot on, onilegion <><

thanks onilegion I checked and where the port is theres not a big chance anything get sucked in as its in front of the air box blocked from wind with alot of plastic plus it blows out there no sucking in but Im still going to replace it. It is a big diameter hose!! Im hoping I can just run to the dealership where I bought my scoot and get the stock replacement hose off a Bali 250 parts scooter going to call in morning but was able to get a speedo puck off it couple weeks ago. I will defenitly be putting it on with better clamp then the clip they used so it dont fall off again this is actually not first time it fell off, but first time it was laying caught between the frame and center stand, so I put it back on and used pair of pliers to tighten clip up didnt think it was going anywhere but it did lol. If I cant get the stock replacement off the parts bike my dealer had then I will check into the hardware and auto stores one of them will have clear hose that will fit. then ill have to figure out a way to close the tube off so it collects the oil like its supposed to and I can still drain it. Maybe a bolt with another clamp? then I could just loosen the clamp pull bolt out of hose when it needs drained?
