I am new to the scooter world.I rode a 1800 motorcycle ,was ran over ,broke many bones and now I am told I have to go to a smaller ride for my leg to support . For the money I am looking at the Linhai Aeolus 300 and the BMS Road King XL 250. Both seem to be about the same cost.I have read up on both but would rather hear from the people who ride them . And something else ..I live in Alabama and can't find any dealers close by ,I found one in Georgia and another that seems to be in some state just above Georgia.

If you are not mechanical, I would look for a used Reflex, I just got an 05' Reflex with 1700 miles for $2500. , That is cheaper than the 300. I read this forum for 3 months and too many chinese horror stories. I don't want to waste my hard earned money. Read the Honda Reflex forums on Yahoo, no horror stories a very reliable scooter. The best 250cc scooter in the world.

Take a look at used Suzuki Burgmans on Craigslist. You can get really good prices on used 400s that are very reliable bikes.

In agreement with some others here in that if you'd rather spend more time on the road than with a wrench in your hand, go with one of the more mainstream manufacturers. I'm not a mechanic and figured since the Lihai was a "Yamaha Clone" a Yamaha shop would/could do the work on the bike. WRONG.
If you're a tinkerer and don't consider reliability a factor go with the Linhai. Shoot, I have a 300 with 100 miles on it I'll give you for $850. Seems we may be in the same state. Other than that, I'd suggest spending a bit more and getting something that you will enjoy.

Not much at the moment. I need to put the carb's air intake back on and I'm guessing the battery is dead from un-use but will probably take a charge.

Burgman, You told us before that yours was a paperweight.. That means if it is a paperweight then you should give it away. YOu really trashed yours in another thread. Seems like what you said I would be afraid of buying yours.

You say it is broken down again THAT COULD MEAN A LOT OF THINGS?
What does it do, need to know detail info of what can be wrong before someone will buy it. The person buying needs to know what is wrong with it. WHAT IS BROKE, DOES IT RUN, IF IT RUNS WHAT DOES IT DO OR WHAT HAPPENS etc..
Otherwise nobody is going to buy it unless they know it can be fixed. Lefty

To the original poster... Chinese scooters arent as bad as alot of people say in my experience with them... I have had 4 scooters in my life, 2 hondas and 2 chinese... to be perfectly honest, I would say my chinese scooters got me to more places than one of my hondas! the other honda was pretty reliable, about the same as my chinese scoots. my opinion... save your money and buy the 250! dont waste your money on a label. you will get plenty of enjoyment out of a 250 scooter I promise!

I've owned a few Honda Elites over the years and zero Chinese. The Hondas are very reliable. Preventitive maitenance goes a long way.

I would take that paper weight off your hands... Would even pay for shopping. Give it to someone who WILL figure it out, figure it out your self, or keep looking for a reputable mechanic (good luck, I know first hand how hard that is).
I don't think that bashing scooters to a new person, in a forum when almost all of us own chinese scooters is gonna help though.
Orig poster: what the others said is true pretty much. If you are willing to put in the wrench time, a chinese scooter is just as fun as japanese, at a much lower cost. If you want bulletproof reliability, drop the cash into a japanese bike.

If you're serious PM me. It's a more than fair deal at 850. I just want it out of the garage (where it has always been kept).
As to owners of Chinese scoot owners, I'm one as well. Title in hand.
