I would like to add extra lights to my scoot (brake, turn, and running lights). I am looking at flexible, waterproof LED strips about 9 to 12 inches long, with 12 to 18 LED's on each strip. The cool part is that I can attach them nearly anywhere. My question is this: will I overload my stock electrical system if I tap into the wires running to my brakes and turn signals? I added a small (4 LED) "third eye" brakelight when my scoot was nearly new, but if I add an extra strip to the front and back turn signals, 2 strips for the brakes, and another 4 as marker lights, am I trying to add too much? Reading through older posts looking to see if these questions had been asked before, I read that it is recommended to replace the original battery. Is there a serious problem with them? I still have the original battery(over 2 years old) and it seems to work fine: should I replace it before it causes problems, or leave it be until it dies? Thanks in advance for any insights anyone may have!

Did you change factory stop and turn signals to led bulbs. If you did should be ok. If not I would do that first. You might find led replacement bulb are a lot brighter and wont need extra lights . I believe trouble with batteries they are usally a couple of years old to start out with mine was from 2007 just got bike 2 months ago. Just ordered a new one to be safe . I also have back up battery to run stereo and gps and use a battery tender to keep fresh. Look at battery there should be a date on it as to how old . You can keep it as a back up better safe then sorry .

I finally got the bugs worked out on my project! I replaced all the brake and turn signals with LED bulbs, and I added an extra strip of 24 LED lights (ledlights.com) to each turn signal (F & R), and I added two strips on each side (F & R) as running lights. I also added two LED strips across the back of my trunk as extra brake lights. I am already getting lots of compliments! After I added and changed my turn signals to LED, my flash rate went up to approx 2 flashes per second. I found a thread where a fellow dawg (sorry, forgot the name) said he changed over to an Autozone "Blazer" HD Flasher #552/536. I purchased this flasher and it lasted about two seconds and then I had NO turn signal flasher. I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and found a Cooper "Bussmann" #232 Heavy Duty Flasher for 1 to 10 bulbs. That did the trick, nice, normal flashing without the strobe effect! I look like a Christmas tree rolling down the road! I AM VISIBLE night and day! New michelin tires made a HUGE improvement in the ride and handling. I also bought a new battery per budmanr's suggestion. My scoot is ready to roll for the summer!! ;D ;D

Here are some photos of my scoot with the new lights: The bottom row is two 12 inch strips of red LED's that are on with the taillights, the middle row is two strips of yellow LED's that work with the turn signals, and the top row is two strips of red again to work as brakelights It really looks nice at night, highly visible without being too gaudy?!

Yes, very nice. Not gaudy at all; I'd say classy and functional. Nice job! Gary
